A funeral service for Edith Hilsabeck, 96. of Spirit Lake will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006, 10:30 AM at the Light of the Lakes Friends Church in Arnolds Park. Pastor Dan Carlson of Wolf Lake, Indiana, with Pastor Jerry Mercer, will officiate. She died October 20 and her body was willed to science.

Edith Mae Hilsabeck, daughter of Ernest and Sadie Halstead Miller was born March 19, 1910 in Spencer, Iowa. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1928.

On June 27, 1927 she married Wilkie Lyle Hilsabeck. To this union were born Robert, Charles and Jean. She was a long time member of the Light of the Lakes Friends Church in Arnolds Park.

Mrs. Hilsabeck died on October 20 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake where she had been a resident for two years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilke, two sons, Robert and Charles Hilsabeck, two sisters, Greeba Smith and Mabel Scott and a brother Roscoe Miller.

Surviving are her daughter, Jean (Norm) Carlson of Spirit Lake, two daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren 5 great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was the matriarch of 5 generations and will be greatly missed.
