Delbert Wittrock

Delbert Wittrock was born on February 5, 1906 the son of Emil and Lizzy (Schierholz) in O’Brien County, Iowa. He was raised near Round Lake, Minnesota where he attended school.

He was united in marriage to Lydia Grell on June 8, 1930. They first made their home near Round Lake, Minnesota before moving to Washington State for a short time. They moved back to the area, where Delbert worked for a carpenter. Lydia died during childbirth in 1943. Delbert moved to California, where he worked at the Douglas Aircraft Factory until moving back in 1944. He married Anna Hansen on January 16, 1945. They made their home on the family farm until moving into Lake Park in 1984.

Delbert was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Lake Park.

Delbert passed away Monday, February 20, 2006 at Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park at ninety-seven years of age.

He is survived by his daughters June (Wittrock) Strohman and her husband Ken of Fertile, Iowa and Eilene (Hansen) Walker and her husband John of Cottonwood, Arizona; daughter-in-law Barbara Hansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jim Travaille, Debra Bass, Barbara Evermann, Jack Walker, Steven Travaille, Robert Travaille, Rhonda Johnson, David Travaille, Shelly Hansen, Cinda Lyons and Jeremy Strohman; great grandchildren, Shane, Jason, Brandon, Adam, Matt, Bridget, Abby, Mike, Kate, Samantha, Nicholas, Jenny, Alex, Shane, Chad, Maddie and Tyler; sisters-in-law Tena Strenge, Frieda Harders and Arlene Harders; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jessie McKenna, first wife Lydia in 1943, second wife Anna in 1997, daughters, Janice Ann Wittrock in 1955 and Dorothy (Hansen) Travaille in 2002, son, Harlan Hansen in 1999 and two sons-in-law Gerrit Travaille in 1974 and Bernard Travaille in 1992.
