Donald B. Meyer Donald Bernhardt Meyer, son of Bernhardt and Mattie (Thomsen) Meyer, was born May 22, 1930 near Eagle Bend, MN. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. In 1936, the family moved to a farm near Jackson, MN where he attended a rural school. They farmed there until 1940 when they moved to the present farm south east of Harris. Don continued his education in the Harris School system, graduating from high school in 1948. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Harris. On July 2, 1955, Don married Althea Strom at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, MN. The couple made their home on farm near Harris. Don farmed his entire adult life and lived in the Harris area for 66 years. He was a life long member of the LCMS. In the fall of 2006, his health started failing, but he was able to resume his somewhat normal life style to the end of his life. He died suddenly on November 30, 2006 on the farm he loved, at seventy-six years of age. Don is survived by his wife, Althea of rural Harris, two sons, Richard and Kathy Meyer of Selbey, SD, David and Sheila Meyer of Luverne, MN; four daughters, Marian and Randy Flitter of Groton, SD, Jean Meyer of Mankato, MN, Betty Meyer of North Mankato, MN and Shirley Butler of Dysart, IA; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Rev.
