Clarence Vincent Hoffman

Clarence Vincent Hoffman was born on July 29, 1912 in Burlington, WI, the son of Charles and Marie (Foisey) Hoffman.  He lived in Burlington for a short time and then his folks moved to Iowa.  He went through 8th grade and loved fishing and the outdoors.

On January 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Bertha Stolp in Sanborn, IA.  The couple lived on a farm near Melvin, IA and farmed for many years before moving to Milford, IA in 1982.

Clarence was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Sanborn and later St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford.  In his later years, he became an avid gardener and loved to share his garden vegetables with other people.  He also loved to play cards and met every Monday night with some friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kathleen (Cathi) Dallman, two brothers; Richard Hoffman and George Hoffman, two sisters; Blanche Hodapp and Cleo Braun, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, a son and a grandson.

I’M FREE
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found the peace at the close of day.

Be not burdened with time of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friend, good times, a loved one’s touch.
