Bernard Stellmach
On June 15, 1950 he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Olson at Terril, Iowa. The couple has lived in Milford since 1970, prior to that he lived near Terril and Ruthven. He and Betty lived in Wichita and a few other places around the Midwest. Bernard was in the Iowa National Guard. He was called up to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany. Bernie was a federal meat inspector since 1969; and licensed to inspect beef, pork, sheep, goats and poultry. Mr. Stellmach passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. He was 76 years of age. He was a member of the Union Memorial Church, and the Milford American Legion, Post 384. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He liked to travel and go camping. He enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and dice. He also loved to tell stories, and to laugh and tease. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Betty of Milford, five children Rick (Barb) of Iowa City, Robb (Martha) of Andover, MN, Timothy (Mary) of Milford, Lori (Roger) Ohrt of Milford, and James of Des Moines, nine grandchildren, John, Michael, Stephanie, Allison, Sammi Jo, Kai Stellmach, Tana, Gary and Eric Ohrt; five great grandchildren Addilyn Larsen, Khory Nobles, Amber, Amanda, and Zach Blakley; and one great great granddaughter Hailey Marie.
