Bernita Nelson Bernita Coral Nelson was born to Ed and Kitty Davidson Trent on April 5, 1909 at Roswell, South Dakota. While she was still a young woman, the family quit farming in South Dakota and returned to northwest Iowa. On March 1, 1926 she was married to Edwin Nelson at Spencer and they became the parents of three sons and three daughters. Bernita died December 3 at the Lakes Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 9, 1985, one sister, Ondena Frahm and two sons-in-law, Russell Kuehl and Ron Heidecker. Surviving are her children, LaVonne Kuehl of Milford, Charlotte Heidecker of Alamogordo, NM, Dick Nelson and his wife, Sally of Arnolds Park, Larry Nelson of Arnolds Park, Dennis Nelson and his wife, Vicky, of Van Meter, Iowa and Sharon Sorenson of Spirit Lake; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and her sister Naoma Abler of Spencer.
