Amanda Frahm

Amanda Lillian Frahm was born to Harry and Minne (Anders) Langfeldt at Spirit Lake, Iowa on February 7, 1915.

On November 26, 1939 she was united in marriage to Herman Frahm and to this union two daughters were born. They worked for other people farming and then farmed on their own west of Lake Park, before moving to the Sioux Valley area.

In 1961 they purchased the Sunny Side Café in Lake Park. In 1963 they purchased a bar in Lake Park and called it Hermie’s Place. They retired in 1982.

Amanda entered the Lake Park Care Center on February 16, 2001. She passed away on Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Lakes Regional Hospital at 91 years of age.

Celebrating her 91st birthday at Lake Park Care Center was a very enjoyable day for her and she cherished the many visits, and phone calls she received. Amanda enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bingo. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Frahm is survived by two daughters, Karen Cheney of Las Vegas, NV, Karla Brinkman and her husband, Brad of Lake Park, IA, four granddaughters, Kimberly Backman, Teresa Tomlinson and her husband, Bob, Cindy Austria, and Katherine Fontinel and her husband, Lance; eleven great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, sister Mildred E. Johnson, son in law, Gerald Cheney.
