Winifred Vera Schuneman Winifred Vera Schuneman was born on August 31, 1910 at Spencer , Iowa to Harry and Celia Kvenberg Ellis. She was raised in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. On April 11, 1928 she married William Reeves of Spirit Lake. They resided in the Reeves family home where she remained until shortly before her death. She was preceded in death by William in 1953. In 1976 she married Melvin Schuneman who preceded her in death in 1978. Winnie worked as a doctor’s assistant and as a receptionist at the Spirit Lake Medical Clinic for many years. During these years she formed many special friendships in the community. Winnie’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was an active long time member of First Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lakeview Cemetery Society. She enjoyed bowling, reading, especially poetry, and hosting family gatherings. Winnie passed away on her 95th birthday, August 31, 2005 at Hilltop Care Center, Spirit Lake. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Forey of Spirit Lake; grandchildren, Bill Forey of Sioux Falls, Kathy Carpenter and her husband, Ken, of Amarillo, TX; and Bob Forey of Amarillo, TX; five great grandchildren,; and one great great granddaughter.
