Wanda Mulder

Wanda Mulder was born May 11, 1933, near Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Hube and Ann (Roos) Muilenburg.  She was raised and educated in Orange City, Iowa, graduating from Orange City High School in 1951.

Wanda was united in marriage to Ed Mulder in 1954.  The couple made their home in State Center, Spencer, and Des Moines, Iowa, as well as Hutchinson, Kansas and Plainview, Texas.  In 1991, Wanda and Ed moved to Spirit Lake, where she enjoyed her hobbies of collecting antiques and collectibles, playing bridge, and watching game shows on TV.  Foremost among her interests, however, were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally.

Wanda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake.  As a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sority, while living in Kansas, she volunteered hundreds of hours working for the March of Dimes as well as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Wanda passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at seventy-two years of age.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Ed of Spirit Lake, daughter Luann Sawyer (Michael) of Halstead, Kansas; sons Tom Mulder (Janie) of Olathe, Kansas, Jerry Mulder (Phyllis) of Sioux City, Iowa, and Bill Mulder (Sydney) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua (Tara), Nathan, Laura, and Emma Hawkins, and Jackson, Chance and Perri Mulder, brothers Terry (Donna) and Randy Muilenburg, several nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
