Viola May Siebke

Viola May Siebke was born to Johann Hans Frederick and Bertha Betty (Steinhagan) Bunning on 18 June, 1910 on the family farm in Round Lake Township, Jackson County, MN. She attended school at District No. 128, Round Lake Township, Jackson County, and then Round Lake High School.

Rev. Herbert Marsh united her in marriage to Alfred W. Siebke on 31 January, 1934 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Spirit Lake, IA. They farmed in Sioux Valley Township, Jackson County, MN. In 1952 they retired and moved to Spirit Lake. Viola worked at the Spirit Lake Bakery for 32 years.

Viola was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake for 53 years where she served as Elder and Deacon. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women Sarah Circle. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 447 and the Spirit Lake Garden Club.

Left to cherish her memory are two brothers-in-law, Dale Bastman of Lake Park and Wallace Stofferahn of Marshall, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Alfred, in 1978; brothers Otto Karl Bunning, Charles Bunning and LeRoy Leonard Bunning; sisters, Elvera Luella Reimers, Leona Bertha Stofferahn and Luverna Florence Bastman and two children, Eileen Kay Siebke and Byron Alfred Siebke, all preceded her in death.
