Sherry Devitt Charlotte “Sherry” Devitt was born December 27, 1915 at West Bend, Iowa the daughter of Oscar Andrew and Mary Elizabeth (Green) Campbell. She was raised in West Bend, Rodman and Webb, where she graduated from Webb High School. Sherry was united in marriage to Dana H. Devitt on September 14, 1935 in Spencer, Iowa. The family made their home in Webb, until moving to Spirit Lake in 1950. Sherry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. She worked hard all of her life, from farm field work on a tractor to managing a clothing Department Store in Spirit Lake. She also managed a grocery store in Cylinder, Iowa from 1969 through early 1975. She was a bookkeeper at the Ford Motor Company, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, as well as other small businesses in Spirit Lake. She was known to have shared family meals with families who did not have food at the time. Sherry passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-nine years of age. Left to survive are her daughters Annabelle L. Wallace and Sharon K. Cusick. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristi A. Cooper (Mike), Dennis D. Wallace (special friend Kathy), Mark K. Wallace (Brenda), Ron Brown (Janet), Louis Cusick (Vickie) and Sherry Viernes (Micheal); great-grandchildren, Nathan M. Cooper, Kaci Lea Cooper, Kelsey A. Wallace, Alexa L. Wallace, Janelle Brown, Ryan Brown, Braden K. Wallace, Isaac Dean Wallace and Kenneth M. Viernes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dana, brother, Robert Campbell, sister Verna Mae Wells, and sons-in-law, Dean L. Wallace and Howard Cusick.
