Marian Reiter Marian Francis Reiter was born to Henry and Francis (Greely) Van Daalen at Flandreau, South Dakota on February 26, 1921. Upon completing her education through the 12th grade she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake obtaining a teacher’s certificate. She was united in marriage to LaVern Reiter on August 17, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Fostoria. Marian taught school in Dickinson County prior to her marriage. She later worked as a nurse’s aide in the Holstein area where the couple resided for many years. Following her husband’s death in 1990 she made her home at Spencer. Mrs. Reiter passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Northshire Nursing Center at Longhouse Residence where she has resided since 2003. She was 84 years of age. Marian was a member of the Ninth Street Baptist Church in Spencer. She is survived by her brother, Howard Van Daalen of Fostoria; two nieces, Lois Becker and her husband, Bob, Jackie Pruitt and her daughter, Sheila, and nephew, Larry Van Daalen and his wife, Shannon and their children: Amanda, Jason and Scott.
