Lorene B. “Teddy” Settlemyer Lorene B “Teddy” Settlemyer was born June 18, 1907 in Pleasantville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles C. and Blanch Proffitt. She graduated from Pleasantville High School and attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Teddy was united in marriage to G. Russell Settlemyer on December 18, 1931. To this union were born two sons, R. Robert and Charles Richard. She was a long time resident of Des Moines, IA before retiring with her husband to Okoboji in 1968. She was a 50 year member of the PEO Sisterhood, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, a 50 year member of the TTT and a life long member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Teddy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away at her home in Lake Okoboji on January 26, 2005 at 97 years of age. She is survived by her son R. Robert Settlemyer and his wife, JoAnne, of Rio Rancho, NM; two grand daughters, Elizabeth Adams of Rio Rancho, NM, Anna Sedillo and her husband Patricio of Phoenix, AZ and 10 great grand children.
