Keith E. Arnold

Keith Eugene Arnold was born March 20, 1920 at Terril, Iowa and grew up on his parent’s farm north of Lake Park.  By the time he was 8 years of age he was milking 3 cows and by age 11 he was plowing with three horses on the plow.  In the fall of 1931, because of the depression, the family left the farm and moved to Swea City where his father was a hog buyer.

In 1935 Keith spent the summer working for his uncle, Edwin Clark, at his grocery store in Lake Park,  Keith graduated from Lake Park High in 1937 where he lettered in football, baseball, basketball, band and chorus and was president of his class.

In 1937 he entered Morningside College in Sioux City and in 1941 he entered medical school at Creighton University in Omaha.  In medical school, because of Pearl Harbor, all medical graduates were given the choice of joining the Army or Navy, he chose the Army.  In 1945 he reported for active duty with the Army, but was told the Navy needed doctors, so he reported to the Navy Hospital in Tacoma, WA.  He also served on the U. S. Monrovia and later was recalled to the Navy during the Korean War.

After his discharge in 1954 he returned to Sioux City, doing obstetrics and gynecology. In 1965 he sold his practice and moved to San Diego, practicing in obstetrics’ and gynecology until 1993 when he moved his practice to Clear Lake, CA.  In 2000 Keith finally retired at the age of 80 after delivering 9200 babies and 8000 surgeries and moved to Phoenix, AZ.

Keith died June 24 at Del Webb Hospital in Sun City, Arizona.  Surviving are his wife Glory of Phoenix, AX, daughter, Suzanne Berringer; son; Craig Arnold; step son, John Lang; brother Allen Arnold and sisters, Dorothy Arnold and Elaine Rensink.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee and parents, Christine and Carl Arnold.
