Ivy Serck
Ivy was united in marriage to Douglas Elmer Serck on April 24, 1976 in Spirit Lake. The couple made their home in Lake Park. Ivy worked as a C.N.A. at Lake Park Care Center, and then at Stylecraft Furniture in Milford. Ivy had a special love for horses, and one of her favorite pastimes was riding them with her life long friend, Susan Untiedt. She loved all animals, but had a special place in her heart for skunks (the de-scented kind). She looked forward every year to Halloween so she could dress up as “Bertha Butt”. She also enjoyed watching “The Wizard of Oz”; being outdoors and writing and drawing. She loved helping others, always putting others before her. She loved her co-workers and often thought of them as family. Her happiest times were when she was with her family and friends, especially spending time with her granddaughter Lindsay. Ivy passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2005 in Spirit Lake, Iowa at forty-nine years of age. She is survived by her husband, Doug; daughter, Sarah and her husband Brett Wulff; son, Shannon Serck and granddaughter, Lindsay. She is also survived by her parents, Duane, Jr. and Phyllis Kiner; grandparents, Duane, Sr. and Opal Kiner; siblings, Ruth Gerdes and her husband Ray, Becky Groves and husband Ken, Bonnie Schafer, Dale Kiner and wife Carey, Patty Galvin and husband Shane, and sister Penny Weaver and husband Steve; sisters-in-law, Diane, Joann and Cathy; brother-in-law Duane; many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Gladys Serck, father-in-law Elmer Serck, nephew Joshua Schafer and aunt, Karen Prather. IN LOVING MEMORY SERVICES OFFICIANT HONORARY BEARERS INTERMENT |
