Hazel Wimmer

Hazel Dorothy Wimmer was born November 5, 1912, at Oakes, North Dakota, the daughter of William and Zona Burgeson. She graduated from Alta (Iowa) High School in 1931.

Hazel was united in marriage to Clarence Wimmer on July 7, 1932 at Worthington, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Harris, Iowa, where they farmed. Clarence passed away July 2, 1988, after which Hazel continued to live in Harris, where she was involved in several clubs and church activities. She lived in Sibley, Iowa for a year, and then in Cherokee, Iowa for five years before moving to the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab in 2003.

Hazel passed away Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab at ninety-two years of age.

She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Byers of Correctionville, Iowa; seven step grandchildren; seventeen step great-grandchildren; eleven step great-great grandchildren; brother, Russell Burgeson and his wife, Dorothy of McAllen, Texas and Spirit Lake, Iowa; a sister, Grace Miller and her husband, Bob of Newton, Iowa; nieces and nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Lloyd Byers; two sisters, Blanche Burgeson and Helen Roberts; and a brother, Roger Burgeson.
