Herman Kruger

Herman Kruger, son of George and Trena (Schneidermann) Kruger, was born on May 6, 1925 in rural Lyon County, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm with seven brothers and four sisters and attended the country school. In 1940 Herman moved with his family to rural Harris, Iowa where he farmed. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953.

On February 18, 1961, he married Irene Mouw and together they lived and farmed in the Harris, Sioux Valley, Minnesota and Lake Park, Iowa areas until his retirement. In 1990 they moved into their newly built home in Lake Park.

Herman enjoyed farming, fishing, collecting fishing gear, spending time with family and “going for drives”.

On Saturday morning, May 21, 2005, Herman passed away at the Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake. He was eighty years of age.

Herman is survived by his wife Irene of Lake Park; his children, Ilene (Jeff) Johnson of Blakesburg, IA, Harold (Pam) Kruger of Lake Park, Denise (Glen) Schmitz of Iowa City, IA, Donna Kruger of Des Moines, IA; five grand-daughters; two brothers, George (Shirlee) Kruger of Sibley, IA, Erva (Delores) Kruger of Round Lake, MN; three sisters, Helen (Pete) De Weerdt of Little Rock, IA, Kathryn Kruger of Brewster, MN, Matilda (Jim) Bergman of Sibley, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Herman in death were his parents, five brothers, Harvey, Martin, Kriene, Thomas and Benjamin; and his sister Angeline.
