Gary K. Ridenour

Gary Kenneth Ridenour was born to Kenneth and Mary (Baas) Ridenour at Emmetsburg, Iowa. At the age of five he moved with his family to the Lake Okoboji Area. He was an Arnolds Park Wildcat Graduate of 1969, then attended college in Colorado.

On April 14, 1985 he married Karen L. Erickson. Two daughters, Lyndsi Katherine and Katie Lyn, were born to this loving union.

Gary was actively involved in Marina Service Management and was a former lakes area restaurateur. He had a great ability to take a person under his wing, teach them and let them shine. Challenges were his specialty.

After dealing with cancer, Gary died at his home on Sunday, March 13, 2005. Those who knew him best will miss the strength of his loving, caring, nurturing character.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman - especially enjoying hunting. Some of his most special memories were the fun times spent with Lyndsi and her friends. Gary loved sports and music and was a physical fitness enthusiast.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen, and daughter, Lyndsi both of Arnolds Park; his mother, Mary of West Okoboji, and sister, Ronda Youde and her husband, Jim of Indiana, mother-in-law, Elberta Erickson of Terril, sister-in-law and family, Carol, Randy, Matt and Steve Blass of Estherville, and many very special friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katie Lyn Ridenour in 1989, and father Kenneth Ridenour in 1971.

The G.K. Ridenour Conservation Charities (c/o Central Bank, Spirit Lake, IA 51360) will allow Gary’s passion to live on through support of projects close to his heart.
