Glea M. Eddy

Glea Eddy was born July 8, 1924 at Stuart, Iowa, the daughter of William Tell and Margaret Bell (Biggs) Kauffman. The family moved to Estherville, Iowa, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Estherville High School in 1942.

Upon graduation, she worked for the Navy Department on the Island of Guam.

She was united in marriage to Everett Eddy in 1945 at Miami, Florida. The couple moved to Spirit Lake in 1950.

While raising her six children, she worked as the executive secretary of the Selective Service Commission, the Drug Store in the mall, as well as Duhn’s Floor Covering.

Glea was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, where she was active in the Catholic Daughter’s of America, the Rosary Society, and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was also active in the VFW Auxiliary and the Lakes Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing cards with her “buds”.

Glea passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 at her home in Spirit Lake at eighty years of age.

She is survived by her husband, Everett; sons Tom Eddy of San Diego, CA, John Eddy (Renee) of St. Louis, Robert Eddy of Denver, CO, and Mike of Spirit Lake; daughter, Mary Linton (Ed) of Williamsport, PA; grandchildren, Ezra, William, Tyler, Dylan and Rachel; great granddaughter, Allysa, and a niece, Gail Kauffman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Jeff Eddy.
