Gene F. Bjorklund Husband Father and Loving Grandfather Gene Frank Bjorklund was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Clarence and Ruth (Overmire) Bjorklund on April 20, 1940. He attended school in Emmetsburg. On May 15th 1964 he married Donna Simington at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven, Iowa. To this union three children were born Inga Marie, Douglas Scott, and Amanda Rose. He loved all of his children dearly and was always there for them. He worked in the Milford area for over 30 years doing various things. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed making wood items for his kids and sister-in-law. He looked forward to playing yuker on New Year’s Eve with his nieces and nephews (even if the rest of his family cheated). Mr. Bjorklund died unexpectedly, Friday, January 21, 2005 after a sudden illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George, Lowell, and Carroll, and one granddaughter, Courtney Lynn. He is survived by his wife of forty years Donna Bjorklund of Milford, IA, children, Inga Hoffman and her husband, Kerry of Milford, Douglas Bjorklund and his wife, Kimberly of Gillette, WY and Amanda Dirks and her husband Mike of Augusta, GA; two grandchildren Alison Marie & Anthony Michael Dirks. Survivors also include three sisters, Dorothy Smith of Kanawha, IA, Lavon Groth of Fostoria, IA and Mari Ellen Eivens of Colorado Springs, CO and one brother, LaVern Bjorklund of Waterloo, IA. He was loved dearly by his family and friends. They will miss his teasing and being picked upon. He has left us with many happy memories. We know he is with God in heaven and enjoying himself.
