Evelyn Swanson

Evelyn Swanson was born November 24, 1911 at Balfour, Iowa to Carl and Elva Mae Logan Carlson.

On August 31, 1929 she married Carl Edwin Swanson at Red Oak, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak, but because of his work as a construction supervisor with Northwestern Bell Telephone, they also lived in Clarion, Spencer, Estherville and Arnolds Park before making their home in Spirit Lake in 1939.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge. Evelyn enjoyed bridge and cribbage, cooking, crossword puzzles, crocheting, music and driving.
She died May 28 at Lakes Regional Hospital after being in failing health for a couple of years.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Wilton Prior of Minneapolis, MN; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Swanson, Palantine, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Carl in 1978; sons, Edwin in 2001 and Kenneth in 2002; brothers, Franklin, Ansel and Wilbur; sister, Edna; and grandson, Joey.
