Donald L. Simpson

Donald L. Simpson was born January 4, 1922 to George and Zada (Walters) Simpson on the family farm east of Milford. He received his education at Arnolds Park Consolidated School.

On April 23, 1944 he married Mildred Spoo in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Terril and then later moved to the family farm east of Milford, where they farmed for many years and raised their ten children. In 1981 they moved to Milford and Don worked part-time as caretaker of the Milford Airport until his retirement.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril, Iowa. Later he became a member at the First Lutheran Church in Milford. Don enjoyed going for car rides, sightseeing, visiting with and enjoying the company of his family. He entered the Milford Nursing Center in April of 2004 and resided there until the time of his passing.

He is survived by five daughters, Charlene (Jay) Lighter, Connie Karl, Deb Simpson, Judy (Jerry) Rohwer, all of Milford, Betty (Marvin) Spieker of Montgomery; four sons, Roger (Sue) Simpson, Dave Simpson all of Wahpeton, Denny (Louise) Simpson of Spencer and Jim (Joan) Simpson of Harwood, North Dakota, one daughter in law Julie Simpson of Milford, nineteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Survivors also include one sister, Bonnie Harris of Arnolds Park and one brother, Dale Simpson of Marathon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred, one son, Gary, and two sisters, Virginia Weiskircher, and Erma Wolthuis and three brothers in law.
