Arlo Lenz Arlo Dale Lenz was born to Nicholaus and Verna (Horton) Lenz in Westport Township of Dickinson County on June 23, 1916. He completed grades 1 – 8 at School No. 9 in Westport Township and then through the 10th grade at Excelsior Township and Lake Park. On April 8, 1945 he married Rhea Kilts at Jackson, Minnesota and to this union one son Arlo John was born. Arlo was a third generation truck gardener. This led to the Lenz Market, which was operated by Arlo, Rhea and son, John. They grew bedding plants as well as raising and selling vegetables and flowers. In Milford he operated a service station where he also sold vegetables raised by the family. He began collecting scrap iron for the war effort which was the inception of Lenz Auto Salvage of Maywood. Arlo was a talented welder and builder and he enjoyed constructing many wagons, trailers, forklifts, and tractor loaders. He also enjoyed his years driving school bus for Arnolds Park Consolidated School. Arlo died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. He was 88 years of age. Arlo is survived by his son, John of Milford and a sister, Wilma Snell of Milford. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
