William J. Mehan
On August 20, 1947, he married Elaine (Tootie) Brueggeman at Assumption Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Bill began farming near Harris, Iowa and then moved to Terril in 1953 where they continued farming the same farm owned by the Besse family for 50 years. In September of 1983, Bill and Elaine moved to Milford. Mr. Mehan passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2004 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 79 years of age. Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1953. He also was a member of the Milford American Post #384. Bill enjoyed being on the farm and his family was always his first priority. Mr. Mehan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Mehan of Milford, five children; Barb Kollasch and her husband, Bob of Terril, Bob Mehan and his wife, LuAnn of Milford, Ken Mehan and his wife, Charleen, of Terril, Nancy Wurtz and her husband, Keith of Milford, and Linda Ruble and her husband, Roger of Milford, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, one sister, Marge Wollner, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Also, special friends Mary E. (Besse) Bradley and David Bradley. In addition to his parents one sister, Marilyn, preceded him in death. Joseph Mehan was born to Hugh and Gertie (Conners) Mehan
on June 18, 1925 in Great Oak Township-Emmetsburg, Iowa. He graduated
from Emmetsburg Catholic High School in 1943. He served in the U.S.
Navy in the Admiralty Islands from 1943 to 1946. After his discharge
from the service he worked at Baker Lumber in Emmetsburg.
