Virginia DeWall Virginia Loretta DeWall was born February 19, 1930 near Terril, IA. Her parents were Rudolph and Ida (Peton) DeWall. Her grade school and high school education were in Estherville, IA. She later attended Estherville Junior College, University of Colorado, Greeley, CO, Drake University, Des Moines and Mankato State, Mankato, MN. Miss DeWall was a lifetime educator in Iowa. Her teaching experiences were several years in Graettinger, IA; twenty years at St. Paul Lutheran School, Fort Dodge, IA; and for seventeen years, a developmental preschool teacher in Dickinson County. Additionally she served many years as a Sunday School, Midweek School and Bethel Bible Series teacher. For her professional and volunteer teaching expertise, she was awarded numerous awards and recognitions. In addition to all Ginny's teaching experiences, she unselfishly gave 49 years of her life to Camp Okoboji as dining room hostess, housemother and coordinator of all housekeeping schedules. The past twenty years she developed, coordinated and hosted JOY Camp, a camping experience for individuals with special needs. Ginny's church home was Immanuel Lutheran Church; Spirit Lake, IA where she was actively involved in the ongoing education programs of the congregation. Her other interests included many hobbies and crafts, volunteering, and visiting with friends and former colleagues. Ginny departed this life on the evening of Wednesday, February 11, 2004 in her home that she shared with her brother, Verlyn (Skinny). She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
