Mary Williams

Mary Kledis Williams was born on September 17, 1927 in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Graham) Kledis. She was raised and educated in Cherokee, graduating as Salutatorian from Wilson High School.

Mary worked as a bank teller for most of her working life. In the last fourteen years, however, she was the Director of the Golden Adventure Club for Liberty Bank in Arnolds Park. She loved to travel and listen to music. Above all, however, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was vibrant, active, full of love and life and still working at the age of seventy-six. She was widely known and loved in the community and will be greatly missed.

She passed away in her sleep at her home on Monday, March 8, 2004 at seventy-six years of age.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Douglas J. Williams of Long Lake, Minnesota, John “Nick” Williams of Spirit Lake, Michael D. Williams of Sedalia, Colorado, Christin Morey of Plymouth, Minnesota, and son Gregory G. Williams of Iowa City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary and Nick Kledis, a brother John and a sister Elaine.
