Marvin Swenson

Marvin Keith Swenson was born to Carl and Verda (Hunter) Swenson on April 30, 1925 at Milford, Iowa. He received his education through the tenth grade at Milford. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 – 1952.

After the service Marvin worked as a truck driver and hauled sand and gravel from area quarries. He later owned and operated a repair shop in Terril for many years. Prior to his retirement he worked for Eaton’s at Spencer.

Marvin was united in marriage to Hazel Besaw on October 29, 1977. In their retirement they enjoyed traveling the country delivering recreational vehicles for Winnebago at Forest City to various dealerships.

Mr. Swenson died Sunday, July 25, 2004 at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer where he has been a resident since November of last year. He was 79 years of age.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Terril, and the Terril American Legion, Post 432. He also enjoyed woodworking as a recreational interest.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Hazel of Spencer, brother, Roger Swenson, and sister, Jeane (Ellsworth) Tatman, all of Milford, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Verda Swenson, and sister in law, Ruth Swenson.
