Mildred Johnson

Mildred Johnson, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Anders) Langfeldt, was born on July 3, 1912 in Scott County, Iowa. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School.

On February 25, 1931, Mildred was united in marriage to David Johnson in Worthington, MN. She worked at the Coca-Cola plant for 28 years until her retirement in 1974. The couple made their home in Francis Sites for 48 years. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake and was active in the UMW, dinner date and volunteer work. Mildred enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and bird-watching. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching ball games.

After her husband’s death in 1985, Mildred moved from her lake home to the Sunrise Apartments. In October 2003, she became a resident at the Hilltop Care Center. She passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at ninety-one years of age.

She is survived by one sister, Amanda Frahm of Lake Park; sister-in-law, Esther Johnson of Spirit Lake; son-in-law, Thorville Prather of Milford; special friend, Jerry Kelley; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death was her husband, and a daughter, M. Ardyce Prather.
