James Robinson

James Kenneth Robinson, the son of Forrest and Thora (Cother) Robinson, was born March 2, 1947 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He enjoyed his childhood growing up in the Arnolds Park community, playing ball and enjoying the Lakes Area.

At the age of 20, Jim volunteered for the draft. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from June of 1968 to June of 1969. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement. Although he never spoke often of his experiences, he was very proud to serve his country.

Jim was united in marriage to his lifetime partner and best friend, Theresa Eberle, on September 9, 1972. They were happy to establish their home in Arnolds Park, where they raised their two children, Greg and Kristi.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family. His children were the light of his life. Much of his time was spent at the Arnolds Park ball diamond coaching Greg and Kristi’s little league ball teams. Not only did he love spending time on the field, he loved following all sports. Jim also enjoyed time with his folks and especially a good game of cards. Jim was a member the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, he was a lifetime member of the VFW and served many years on the Arnolds Park Fire Department.

Jim passed away at his home on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at fifty-six years of age.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Theresa, children, Greg and Kristi; his mother, Thora; one sister, Donna and her husband Jerry Erickson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Forrest Robinson and a sister Judy.
