Helen Schoelerman

Helen Henrietta Schoelerman was born August 4, 1906 near Hartley, Iowa to Richard and Amanda Otto. She received her education at Hartley. Helen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1922.

On January 12, 1927 she was united in marriage to Nick Schoelerman, also of Hartley. They farmed near Hartley and Everly until 1938 when they moved north of Lake Park. They retired from the farm in 1963 and moved to San Jose, CA.

Helen was a member of Sioux Valley Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in San Jose. She passed away July 9, 2004 at Lincoln Glen Care Center, San Jose, CA.

Surviving are her children, Gale and his wife, June, of Lake Park, Janet and her husband, Ken Geisler, of Morgan Hill, CA and Janell Swam of San Jose, CA; six grandchildren, Gary Schoelerman and his wife, Marelle, Debra Keadle and her husband, Mitch, Michelle Lopez and her husband, Paul, Nicholas Geisler, Shawn Geisler and David Swam; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Sherwood (Elaine) Otto, Hartley and Sharon (Marian) Otto, all of Hartley.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Nicholas, her parents, a grandson, Craig Schoelerman and sisters, Viola Fahlenkamp and Velma Henning.
