Harold “Pete” Higgins

Harold “Pete” Higgins was born February 4, 1938, in Estherville, Iowa the son of Carl and Bonnie (Stepleton) Higgins. Pete was raised and educated in Estherville, attending Estherville Schools. Pete was a client of Echo Plus in Spirit Lake, living in the Group Home since 1994.

Pete was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake. He was an avid Nascar fan. He enjoyed Jackson Speedway races, bowling and listening to Bandwagon/Polka music.

Pete passed away Monday, April 5, 2004 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake at sixty-six years of age.

He is survived by six sisters, Betty Janssen, Dunnell, MN, Jean Planting (Russel), Estherville, Mary Thelen, Spencer, Carla Long (Mike), Desert Hot Springs, CA, Tish Scott (Vern), Spirit Lake and Shelley Becker (Mark), Pocahontas; six brothers, Kenny Higgins (Mary), Colorado Springs, CO, Mike Higgins (Mary), Hartley, Iowa, Bill Higgins (Sue) of Graettinger, Jerry Higgins (Linda), Custer, SD, and Glenn Higgins (Pat), Chanhassen, MN; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers Phil, Earl and Dale, sisters Lois Michelson, Kathy Dyhrkopp and Sandra Higgins and a nephew, Worth Harsin.
