George Newman

George was born October 1, 1920 in Plymouth County Iowa to George and Dolly Newman. George married Lucille Garland on April 14, 1943 while serving in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He served stateside and in the Mariana Islands and Guam.

On return to Iowa, he resided in Sioux City and worked in the sheet metal trade for 20 years before moving to Vermillion, SD where he owned Newman Heating & A/C in 1965. In 1974 the Newmans retired to the Lakes Area and he worked part time for Lakes Plumbing, Heating & Cooling until he moved into Wel-Life in 2003. He died March 10th at Hilltop Care Center, Spirit Lake.

He is survived by his daughter, Janet Nobbe and her husband Gary, Rockwell City; son, Ronald Newman and his wife, Jeanette, Okoboji; Grandsons, Matt & Jeremy Newman; Granddaughters, Heather (Nobbe) Pesicka, and her husband, Loren; Joey (Newman) Paterson and her husband Will; 4 Great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson; 1 sister Maxine Nissen, and 1 brother-in-law, Donald Schnieder; Many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
