G.L.“Rusty” Johnson Gordon Lee “Rusty” Johnson was born May 8, 1931 to John H. and Anna (Kruse) Johnson at Little Rock, Iowa. He graduated from Little Rock High School. He entered the US Navy on June 22, 1948 serving until receiving an honorable discharge on June 12, 1953. He married Betty Von Holdt in 1955. Three children were born to this union; Terry, Sally and Karen. He married Carolyn Foster in 1980. Rusty moved to Lake Park in 1957. He worked for the city and Lake Park Utilities for several years. He also worked for Joyce Lumber Company for twelve years, and then at McQuay’s in Spirit Lake for thirteen years. He attended the Lake Park United Methodist Church. Rusty passed away Thursday, October 6, 2004 at Lakes Regional Healthcare at seventy-three years of age. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children, five step-children and seven step-grandchildren.
