Dorothy Winker Dorothy Winker was born on June 16, 1912 at Odebolt, Iowa. She was the daughter of John Jr. and Mary (Smith) Veit. She moved with her folks to Milford, Iowa, where she grew up and received her education. On January 12, 1932, she was united in marriage to Henry Winker. They lived on a farm west of Milford for 62 years until moving to Orchard View in Carroll, IA in April 1994. She moved to Shady Oaks Care Center in July 2000. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her flowers, latch hook, crocheting and knitting. Dorothy, age 91, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Shady Oaks Care Center in lake City, Iowa. Survivors include children and their spouses: Ruth and Lloyd Schrad of Auburn, IA; Larry and Paula Winker of Boca Raton, FL; daughter-in-law, Donna Winker of Humboldt, NE; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Don and Irma Veit of Pocahontas, IA, and Paul and Delores Veit of Odebolt, IA; five sisters, Rose Marie Crone of Fayetteville, OH, Frances Whiters of Portland, OR, Sister Florence Veit of La Crosse, WI, Marie Diersen and husband Ken of Schaller, IA, and Leona Mattson and her husband, Harry of Crescent City, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, a son Bruce in 1995, brother Dave Veit, a brother in infancy; two sisters, Gertrude Frost and Clara Mithcell.
