Carl E. Munden Carl Edward Munden was born to Grant and Anna (Noll) Munden on February 28, 1918 at Cylinder, Iowa. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II and served among the forces that fought at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe for which he was awarded five bronze stars. On March 19, 1946 he married Berniece Jensen at Jackson, Minnesota. They made their home in the lakes area near Milford where Carl was self-employed as a painter and interior decorator. In 1998 Carl became a resident at Sunrise Apartments in Spirit Lake. Mr. Munden died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Lakes Regional Healthcare after a brief illness. He was 86 years of age. Carl enjoyed fishing and traveling. He kept abreast of the news and world events and enjoyed discussing current issues. He is survived by three sons and one daughter: Daryl Munden and his wife, Kaye and their children, Ryan, Jason and Kristen of Rochester, MN; Donald and his wife, Melody and their children, Michael and Thomas of Albert Lea, MN; Marvin and his wife, Kit and their children, Kristine and Tyler of Storm Lake, IA; and Marilyn Johansen and her husband, Stan and their children, Daniel, Melissa, Jon and James; one brother, Lyle Munden and his wife, Irene of Mesa, AZ and many nieces and nephews.
