Carl Mumm Carl Mumm was born January 10, 1916 at Santee, Nebraska to Peter and Bertha (Schmidt) Mumm. He received his education through the eleventh grade at Santee, Nebraska and also worked on a farm there before he was eighteen. He entered the armed services on April 11, 1945 and served as a Corporal at Camp Stoneman, California prior to receiving his honorable discharge on October 26, 1946. On January 26, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Finnern at Sioux Falls, South Dakota and to this union were born five children: Sharon, Carla, Cynthia, Leland and James. After the service Carl moved to Lake Park and worked as a building contractor and carpenter. He moved to Milford in 1987 and worked together with his wife in the management and maintenance of the Broadway Village Apartments. Carl died Monday, November 1, 2004 at the Lake Park Care Center where he has been residing in recent years. He was 88 years of age. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and Lake Park American Legion. He also was an avid bowler. Carl is survived by three daughters, Sharon Duis and her husband, Jesse of Harris, Iowa, Carla Sherack and her husband, Mark of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Cynthia Munden of Spencer, Iowa, and two sons, Leland Mumm of Milford, Iowa and James Mumm and his wife, Jenna of Hartley, Iowa, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
