Betty Martin Graveside services were held Thursday, 11:30 AM for Betty Martin of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Betty Jahn Martin was born May 15, 1921 in Long Grove, IA. Her parents were John R. and Bionda Reimers Jahn. At the age of 4, the small family moved to Spirit Lake, IA where Betty attended school, graduating from high school in 1939. She furthered her education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA for two years, and then worked in Chicago, IL as an administrative secretary. Betty met and married Paul Martin in 1952, eventually moving to Red Bank, New Jersey. They also lived in Springfield, MO and after retirement, moved to New Port Ritchie, FL. Betty returned to her roots in Spirit Lake, IA in 1980 after the death of her beloved husband, Paul. She lived out her remaining years here. She died April 26 at the age of 82 at the Hilltop Care Center. Burial was at the Lakeview Cemetery, Spirit Lake. Betty enjoyed playing bridge and especially enjoyed caring for her two Siamese cats. She was a member of Chapter BE, P.E.O. Sisterhood Betty is survived by two brothers, Russ and Ross, both of Spirit Lake, plus a sister-in-law Delores. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death. |
