Arlene Larson

Arlene Laura Larson was born to Leon and Helen (Jensen) Olson on September 16, 1920 at Terril, Iowa. She graduated from Lake Center High School and attended University of Northern Iowa.

On May 24, 1942 she was united in marriage to J. A. “Bob” Larson at her parents home near Terril. She taught school for thirty-six years; five years in country schools before her marriage, twenty-three at Lake Center School and eight years at Terril. She retired in 1985. Arlene and Bob farmed near Ringsted, Iowa.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Terril and was a Fifty Year Member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Arlene passed away March 27, 2004 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake at eighty-three years of age.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Marlin) Langner of Dickens, Iowa; two sons, Robert (Patricia) Larson of Spirit Lake and Jerry (Connie) Larson of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Myrl (Esther) Olson of Terril and Richard (Tillie) Olson of Terril; sister Betty (Bernie) Stellmach of Milford; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. A. “Bob” Larson; her parents; infant brother, Herbert and sister, Dorothy Hyatt.
