Audrey Bye Audrey Janet Bye, 87, of Arlington and a former resident of the Spirit Lake, IA area dies Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at the Beverly Health Care Center in Arlington. Audrey Janet (Bennett) Bye was born March 9, 1916 in Arlington, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Harry Bennett and Pearl (Jones) Bennett. She attended school in Arlington, South Dakota and worked there until she moved to Chicago in 1933 where she worked as a housekeeper and later as a waitress. She was united in marriage to Bernard Bye on January 26, 1954. To this union one daughter was born, Karen. In 1966 they moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where Audrey worked as a waitress and hostess at several resorts in the Lake Okoboji area. In 1999 Audrey moved to the Arlington Care Center. Audrey loved to read, sew, travel and attend her church gatherings. She was a member of Milford Baptist Church and Business & Professional Women. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Saul of Fairfield, Iowa, a step-daughter, Nancy Miller of Lombard, Illinois, three grandchildren, David, Matthew and Heather, one brother, Vance Bennett of Arlington, South Dakota, two sisters, Betty Mattern, Arlington, South Dakota and Hazel Bundy of Garvin, Minnesota. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two grandsons. Funeral services for Mrs. Bye will be 10:00 am Saturday, February 14, 2004 at the Milford Baptist Church, Milford, IA with Pastor Harry Stultz officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery at Spirit Lake, IA. Visitation will be preceding services in the church on Saturday. |
